Oshun Blooming is incarnate of the goddess Oshun in all her glory. She is fertility, growth, beauty and love: all things needed to bloom and grow. I am also paying homage to the amazing sister-artist Tamara Nathalie Madden who transitioned on Nov 2017. Who as a fellow West Indian and mixed media artist. who strongly influenced my work. Her muse was the everyday person who she elevated to the queens and courtesans, in her used of deep rich blues, texture, gold leaf and paint. Her work made me feel as if my work as possible. She was known to paint her subjects with a bird familiar or companion. Oshun Blooming is my homage to her art style and her life. Commisioned by Room Magazine for the Grow Room Feminist Literary Festival 2018 in Vancouver.
